Why? Because Sabah has hands down one of the most beautiful oceans and mountains in the world. Second, I was born in Sabah- Semporna to be exact. My dad calls me 'Bajau Boy' when he's with his Sabahan friends. He also worked in Sabah early in his carrier life. No wonder we go there ever two years for a trip. You can never get enough of it. This tradition started in 2007 where we went there by car up till Semporna, by birth place. Yep, Kuching--> Semporna by car. It took us a full 3 days. But this trip was not fun in the sun. Turns out that my name is not registered. Although I have a birth cert, its not valid. WTH +.+ yea. I've been living as an illegal citizen for the first 11 years of my life. Luckily this is not uncommon for births in Sabah in the 90's

The last time I went there was in 2009. This time we flew there- in a plane ofc- KK was like so much more developed than Kuching. They have Burger King, awesome public transportation and only the largest mall in borneo, 1Borneo Megamall!! I went there and it took me an average of 2 hours per floor to explore! Not only that, the malls are literally next to each other! Unlike in Kuching where malls are too far for you to walk from each other. KK also has a packed city centre. Like everything is there, you can just walk everywhere.
The best part of KK though is that you can see the Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park from the city. Its only 15 minutes boat ride from the jetty and it costs you about 15-80 ringgit, depending on how many islands you decide to go. There is Pulau Gaya, Pulau Manukan, Pulau Sapi, well thats all I could remember. There, the waters are crystal clear and you can see colorful fishes. You even get to feed them.

Other than its oceans, Sabah is also famous for Mount Kinabalu, the tallest mountain in South East Asia. The weather there is chilly, it feels like the aircon is turned on. There are even strawberry, cabbage and carrot farms out there. My mum's friend also told us that you can go up there and take a picture of yourself at one of the flower gardens and bulak to other people that you actually went to europe. Hehe
Yup, I miss Sabah very much. Fortunately my dad says he's taking us to Sipadan/Mabul next year. Yipee! I'll keep my fingers crossed.
